Sydney

La ciudad de “Sydney” es grandísima y está construida alrededor de un puerto. Lo primero que siempre llama la atención es la opera, es algo que no os podéis perder, eso y el puente que hay en el puerto. Todos sus edificios son modernos, ya que Australia fue colonizada a partir de 1788. Pero también tiene otras muchas cosas que ver, sobre todo, parques y playas, también hay muchos museos. A mí, me ha impactado el museo de la policía, una pena que no pudiese sacar fotos, de verdad que eso no es para estómagos débiles. Respecto a la gente, por lo normal suele ser muy agradable, siempre están dispuestos a tener una conversación contigo, da igual que sea en un museo o contemplando algún parque, siempre que surja un tema de conversación. Aunque también hay excepciones, como contaré en otro post. Por lo demás, por el día “Sydney” está lleno de turistas, no se suele ver gente autóctona, pero cuando cae la noche, sobre todo en fin de semana, los locales se ponen sus mejores galas y se van de fiesta. Hay mucha fiesta, y se monta en los sitios más inesperados. Hay una fiesta justo al lado de la opera, en el puerto, que debe ser de las mejores de “Sydney”. Incluso hay zonas para salir de fiesta: “Chinatown & Spanish Quarter” tiene muchos restaurantes, pubs y ambiente en la calle, sobre todo en los días siguientes al año nuevo chino.
También está “Darling Harbour”, solo que esto es para la gente un poco mas pija, con restaurantes carísimos y bares modernísimos que tienes que pagar un ojo de la cara por cada trago.
La última zona es “King Cross”, esta es la zona más frecuentada por mochileros y gente como nosotros, porque los bares hacen muchas promociones. Pero también es la zona menos prestigiosa de la ciudad, porque además de bares y discos asequibles, en el barrio hay locales de streptease, prostitutas y camellos. Yo solo he salido un poco por ahí el sábado, conocí a unos mochileros suizos que estaban celebrando su despedida de “Sydney”, y me quede con ellos, por lo que me dijeron, en ese barrio es fácil conseguir todo lo que quieras.

The city of ‘Sydney’ is pretty big and it is built around a harbor. First of all, you must see the ‘Opera House’ and the ‘Harbor Bridge’, they are awesome. All the buildings there are modern buildings because Australia was colonized after 1788. Also there are plenty of thing to see, for example: parks, beaches, museums, etc. The Police museum was impacting for me, it was a shame I couldn’t take pictures, but it is for brave people.
People there are usually sociable, they always want to have a good conversation, it don’t mind if is in a Museum or walking in the park if the conversation theme is interesting. However there are some exceptions like I’ll tell you in other post.
During the day, ‘Sydney’ is full of tourists and you can’t see Sydney citizens, but when the night become, the Sydney inhabitants dress up and go out during all the night. There are a lot of parties, and it’s in the most unexpected places. There is a party net to the ‘Sydney Opera House’, in the ‘Sydney harbor’. Even there are zones where you can go out or dinner as ‘China Town & Spanish Quarter’ where there are a lot of restaurants and a lot of people celebrating the Chinese New Year.
‘Darling Harbor’ is other of these zones, but is for more posh people, there are really modern restaurants and bars, but they are quite expensive.
The last zone is ‘King Cross’ where there are a lot of Backpackers and a lot of students and the pubs do a lot of happy hours. But is the worst zone of the city if you aren’t a student because with the cheap pubs there are striptease locals and prostitutes.
