UTS

Finally, there met to my friend ‘Kalpana’, one Indian girl who I was calling since I’d arrived to Australia and who get my interview for enter into the university. I gave her all that she needed to enroll me in the university, then I was talking with her about how apply for a scholarship. She said to me that it was impossible to get a scholarship. I asked her how I could pay the university, I mean, if I could pay half and half or something like this. She said to me that the best way to pay the university was getting a sponsor. When I asked her about getting a sponsor, she said to me that she had been looking for a sponsor for me. I hang her because of the happiness of the moment and I thanked everything. She asked to me if I mind to stay here after finish my degree, I answered no and she continued searching my sponsor. Finally, I said to her: ‘If you get a sponsor for me, I’ll invite you to dinner’.

Yesterday I received the English test results. It is awesome pass the test and can enroll in an Australian university, after one and a half years without practicing English. For now, I have applied for a course and for a scholarship too. There are plenty of applicants for the scholarships and I do not know if I can get one, however, I trust that my marks allow me to get a scholarship. Now, if I cannot get the scholarship, I know that if I cannot study in an Australian university is because of the money and not because of my English level. Today I will go to Sydney to apply for a course in ‘University of Technology’ and apply for a scholarship. I hope be lucky and get a scholarship.

Finally, I have done the exam necessary to enroll in ‘Curtin University’.
Firstly, I was quite nervous, but when I arrived to the room, I was talking with the person who checks the exam and he said me I could pass the exam easily. Certainly, it was much easier than I thought, I finished my exam 10 minutes before the predefined time, in fact, I was the first one to finish the test.
I went out from the university excited and, on the way to the English college, I received a call from a girl, whom I began to talk when I had arrived in Australia, who work in the international office of the “University of Technology” in Sidney. She had got me an interview with the responsible of admission in that university, but it had to be this week. Then, I asked about doing it by Skype, and he accepted. Then, at four o’clock in the afternoon, I connected my Skype and I did my interview.

That interview allows me to explode my two best parts of the English language, listening and speaking, and now I can apply for a course in that university. But the thing is not always like we want, and I need to apply for a scholarship too, because Australian universities are so expensive for an international student.
For now, everything is going wanderfully, and I also have a test for work as cleaner in a restaurant next saturday. For a perfect time here, I only need to get one of the scholarships.

Australia Day

Wednesday was the “Australia Day”, which is like the “Independence Day” in USA. Everybody looks a patriot and take his Australian flags to go to celebrate his day, shouting “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!!!”
I was studying all the day, preparing myself for the exam next Wednesday. But, at mid-day, I decided to have a break and go to the downtown to see the the different events that were happening. I went to an Esplanade near the station, where concerts were held throughout the day. There I was listening a couple of Australian artists.
Now comes the most interesting. In the first concert I wanted to socialize with the people, and I tried to go to the center of the esplanade. In the way of the center, I pushed unintentionally a girl. “Ella” is quite beautiful, as tall as me, with a long blonde hair and blue eyes. I asked forgiveness and she noticed my accent was strange. Then, I told her my story and we started to talk about Perth, the Australian costumes, etc. After thirty minutes, we began to joke and I invited her to a picnic at “King’s Park”. She accepted and we we ate together.
After the lunch, we parted, because I was concentrated in my exam more than flirting, and I went back home, to continue preparing my exam.
Finally, there were prepared some fireworks lunched from the center of the “Swan River”, which could be seem from anywhere near the river. I saw the fireworks in the district where I live, because I wanted to spend as less time as possible. It was unbelievable, thirty minutes of fireworks. And you could see all the people who were in the river banks, also in the furthest districts, like mine.

Primeras Experiencias / First Experiences

I have slept in a hostel until Sunday. I haven’t gone out to dance yet. In fact, in the two first days I’ve been visiting the universities to ask about information.
On Thursday I did two interviews, the first one was fantastic, after the interview I booked the right to do one exam necessary to enroll in “Curtin University”. However, in the “University of Western Australia”, that I had already concert an interview, I hadn’t got luck. The interview finished fine, but they said me that I need to have an Australian degree to start with the course I wanted.

“Curtin University” is awesome, there are a lot of international student from all around the world. There are so many students in the garden playing cards, studying, reading or talking.
Once I’d visited the universities, enrolled in a college of English and with a sure accommodation for the first weeks, on Saturday and Sunday, I was visiting Perth.

I want to describe how the Perth population is. On Thursday, going to “Curtin University”, I met an academic who was going to do a conference. We were talking all the time we were in the bus, and when we arrive to “Curtin University”, he invited me to go to his conference. Half an hour later, I was joking with a girl in the Pharmacy, but nothing was happens. On Saturday I was in “Kings Park” and I was talking one hour and a half with two women, who was doing a picnic. And finally, my best experience with Perth’s people. I went to the beach on Sunday and I met a friendly man who was a long time talking with me and, at lunch time, he offered to me some meal because he was doing a barbecue.

La ciudad de Perth / The city of Perth

Perth is the most Cosmopolitan city I’ve ever seen. You can see people from every races, colors and religions, and everyone is mixed. You can see one Australian with a Chinese girlfriend or one Indian with an Australian girlfriend. The people here are really friendly, you can talk with everybody, and they are always open to have a good conversation and they like joking.
Perth is also a nice city it’s not a desert like I thought, but a green city with parks. Because it’s next to a really big river called “Swan River”. In Perth, you can be in the center and take a Bus to go, in twenty minutes, to the beach or see Perth from one of the view points of “King’s Park”.

El Vuelo / The Flight

The plain was quite big, with two floors. The space between seats, tourists class included, was Incredible. I could be tended in my seat, well, not at all. The air hostess were so beautiful and was always smiling. At the second hour of flight, I was the only person in three seats, and then I could sleep whenever I want, but, sincerely, I couldn’t sleep anything. The meal was really tasty. For lunch I could taste a really good cocked Roast Beef, and for breakfast they serve Bacon with eggs and a “Croissant” with some butter. The only thing I miss was… Well, everyone can imagine what he wants.
